The Joy of Serving Others

As Christians, we are called to love and serve others just as Jesus did. In Philippians 2:4, it says, “Let each of you look not only to his own interests, but also to the interests of others.” This means that we should not only focus on our own needs and desires, but also on the needs of those around us.

Serving others can bring great joy and fulfillment to our lives. When we take the time to help someone in need, we are showing them the love and compassion of Christ. It can be as simple as lending a listening ear to a friend who is going through a tough time, or volunteering at a local charity.

One of the greatest examples of serving others is found in John 13:1-17, where Jesus washes the feet of his disciples. This was a task typically reserved for servants, but Jesus humbled himself and took on the role of a servant to show his disciples the importance of serving others.

When we serve others, we are also serving God. In Matthew 25:40, Jesus says, “Truly, I say to you, as you did it to one of the least of these my brothers, you did it to me.” By serving others, we are showing our love and obedience to God.

So let us strive to look out for the interests of others, just as Christ did. Let us serve with joy and humility, knowing that we are serving God and bringing glory to his name.

  1. This is sound biblical teaching on serving others. When we do faithfully, we should expect reward from our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ.
